Mims head-on crash leaves one dead, several critically injured

A 29-year-old Titusville man was killed and several others critically injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Mims, Brevard County Fire Rescue officials said.

The incident, described as a head-on collision, occurred about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 6100 block of Highway 46 near Tammy Drive west of Interstate 95.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said the Titusville man was driving a sedan westbound on State Road 46 when he attempted to pass other vehicles and struck a sport utility vehicle driven by a 36-year-old Rockledge woman. A van and another sedan were struck by the wreckage from the crash.

Officials did not identify the person who was killed but said he died at the scene.

Two medical helicopters were called to transport at least two people – including a child – from the site. Traffic along the highway was shut down as the scene was cleared.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
