NASA's CRS-23 Mission set for launch Saturday, Weather at 40% GO

Dragon CRS-2 SpX-23 is a Commercial Resupply Service mission that will be heading to the International Space Station (ISS). SpaceX was awarded this mission by NASA in 2016 and will launch it on its Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket using a Cargo Dragon 2, C208-2. The rocket will lift off from Launch Complex 39A, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This mission will mark the third flight for SpaceX under NASA’s CRS Phase 2 contract.

ULA readies Vulcan pathfinder booster for cryogenic tanking test

United Launch Alliance rolled a test article for its new Vulcan rocket to a launch pad at Cape Canaveral Wednesday, moving the booster into position for a series of cryogenic tanking tests set to begin in the coming days.


The 110-foot-tall (33.5-meter) Vulcan first stage rode a mobile launch platform along rail tracks from ULA’s Spaceflight Operations Center at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to pad 41, a seaside launch complex teams have modified to support Vulcan missions and continued flights of ULA’s Atlas 5 rocket.


The Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle, which will ultimately replace ULA’s Atlas and Delta rocket families, is scheduled to lift off for the first time next year. Blue Origin’s delivery of flight-ready BE-4 first stage engines is driving the schedule for the first Vulcan test flight.


While ULA’s factory team in Decatur, Alabama, waits for the engine delivery, the company’s launch team at Cape Canaveral is moving forward with “pathfinder” testing using a first stage test article.

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-3 mission now is targeting launch no earlier than Sunday, Oct. 31

NASA and SpaceX have adjusted target launch and return dates for upcoming crew missions to and from the International Space Station based on visiting vehicle traffic.

World’s First All-Civilian Mission to Space will Launch from the Space Coast

Elon Musk’s SpaceX is planning to send its first “all-civilian” crew to space at the end of 2021 in a charity-focused mission commanded by tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman.

 

The company said in a press release it’ll pick three people to ride alongside Isaacman to orbit aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule

NASA and Boeing Target New Launch Date for Next Starliner Flight Test

NASA and Boeing now are targeting March 29 for the launch of Starliner’s second uncrewed flight test to the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) is a critical developmental milestone on the company's path toward flying crew missions for NASA.

NASA Administrator Signs Statement of Intent with Brazil on Artemis Cooperation

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and the Government of Brazil Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) Marcos Pontes signed a joint statement of intent during a virtual meeting on Dec. 14, 2020. The statement describes Brazil’s intention to be the first country in South America to sign the Artemis Accords. Brazil has expressed interest in potentially contributing a robotic lunar rover – in addition to conducting lunar science experiments and other investigations – as part of NASA’s Artemis program.

Launch Complex 48 expands the scope of the agency’s premier multi-user spaceport by creating a dedicated launch site to accommodate launchers generating 500,000 pounds of thrust or less. Complex 48’s “clean pad” design and basic infrastructure offer flexibility for small-class vehicle customers whose rockets have varying needs.

Lockheed Martin plans new Titusville factory

Lockheed’s real estate arm LMC Properties Inc. on Nov. 6 filed plans with the state for renovations and construction near its Titusville campus. Lockheed’s plans call for the construction of a factory and the renovation of an office building and warehouse already on the property.

NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 Astronauts Touch Down at Florida Spaceport

NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker, along with Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), landed via plane at the Launch and Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center after departing earlier today from Ellington Field near the NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Crew Dragon at Launch Complex for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1; Astronauts Arrive Sunday

The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission arrived at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A on Thursday, Nov. 5, after making the trek from its processing facility at nearby Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
